Value for Money at Victorian Villa: Sefton Park’s New Development
Details about the ‘Victorian Villa’ apartment block development near Sefton Park have been released to the public with visuals of what the eventual buildings will look like. The £5.2 million development, produced by South Liverpool Homes, will include a stylish array of twenty-two shared ownership apartments with two and three bedrooms. Located on Livingstone Drive in Aigburth, the ground floor apartments will feature details such as French doors leading to a patio area, whilst the apartments higher up will include spacious balconies. All homes will be fitted with high specification kitchens and bathrooms as well as off-road parking and beautiful landscaped garden areas which will surround the two buildings. The original planning application includes a document detailing how ‘the apartment building designs have taken a variety of design cues from the neighbouring Victorian properties, including pitched roofs, large bay windows and brick detailed facades.’ The design has been chosen to ‘represent a 21st century interpretation of the large detached Victorian Villa, whilst meeting modern accommodation, services, technology and accessibility requirements,’ making it elegant yet practical.
Developers state that the apartments will be built to ‘exceptional standards’ with their luxurious designs, however, they will be surprising affordable for potential buyers. The development has received funding from Homes of England, meaning that South Liverpool Homes are able to offer buyers a deal where they can buy a share in their home from 25% to 75%. They can then pay the remainder on the property through a subsidised rent, and as their finances allow they can increase their shares in their home until they eventually own it outright. This is a project that aims to combine stylish living with affordability, with Robert Mannion, Head of Assets at South Liverpool Homes, stating how these apartments are ‘all about lifestyle.’ They are designed to ‘combine the benefits of living in one of Liverpool’s most vibrant areas, with the opportunity for homebuyers to get onto the property ladder through an affordable home ownership product.’
He also further outlined the project’s benefits by highlighting how ‘as well as being close to the park, the homes are just a short stroll to cafes and nightlife at Lark Lane’ meaning people have everything they need to ‘live the outdoor life they’ve always dreamed of.’ South Liverpool Homes’ future property is situated in a very desirable area where the demand for properties is high, and so ’18 Livingston will enhance the housing offer for people wanting to live [there].’
South Liverpool Homes’ project to expand their portfolio in the Aigburth area began work in July 2018 and is already attracting a lot of attention. It promises to be a beautifully designed building in a truly beautiful part of the city and it shows that owning your own high quality, stylish property is not insurmountable. With its elegant exterior and modern features, this union of old meets new is a brilliant example of the innovative property ventures appearing all around Liverpool and will hopefully lead to more exciting projects in the future.
