Recent regeneration across Liverpool’s previously run-down areas has sprung a new lease of eclectic life into areas such as ‘The Baltic triangle’ and ‘Bold Street’. Less than ten years ago, these now thriving parts of the city were looking shabby and soulless, barely recognisable to the fashionable crowds you will find there today.
Following the resurgence of these hot spots, it was surely inevitable that this type of regeneration would soon follow into other tired areas of the city, still in much need of a facelift.
There is now talk of plans to develop a new district, behind what is now the rather bleak streets of London Road, leading up to Islington.
This part of Liverpool is traditionally home to the textile industry. These days there isn’t much there apart from a few surviving sewing and fabric shops, a producer of police hats and Thelma Madine’s ‘Big Fat Gypsy Weddings’ dressmakers.
There are now plans for local developers to revamp the area, which will be aptly known as Liverpool’s ‘Fabric District’.
There are currently plans to convert a large derelict building into a new creative hub which will include space for a bar and events hall, dance and music studios and workshops for local fashion business’s. In keeping with the theme of the ‘Fabric District, the building will be named ‘Tapestry’, and hopefully its location will encourage local cafes, restaurants and retailers to the high street which is set to appeal to Liverpool’s creative population.
As the ‘Fabric District’ grows in popularity, its likely that there will also be plans to develop new and convert old buildings into new residential and commercial space, creating homes and amenities for fans of the ‘Fabric District’ to work, live and play.
This is yet another positive piece of news for those working within the property industry and property recruitment in Liverpool. As the city evolves with new plans for building and construction, the demand for experienced property professionals increases, and the competition for employers to attract the best staff is growing fiercer than ever.
