In 2017, the residential property sector saw the number of units currently under construction in Manchester rising by 60%. After 20 new schemes started building there are 11,135 residential units currently underway with plans for completion over the next 2 years.
Dandara’s Chapel Wharf, located next to the iconic Lowry hotel, is the largest of these new developments with 995 luxury apartments due for completion over next 18 months.
Chapel Wharf is yet another example of the evolving PRS trend across the Northern Powerhouse. PRS developments have been popping up all over the city in recent years resulting in changes in the skill sets required for residential property management jobs in Manchester. The property recruitment industry is seeing a huge increase in the need for residential block managers with many employers now seeking IRPM qualified property managers, a qualification which was considered relatively niche until recent years.
The city’s second largest development is Kampus, a 536 unit development by Capital & Centric located on Aytoun Street on the doorstep to Manchester’s gay village. Described by the developers as ‘A melting pot of architectural styles and a rich cultural heritage’, this building looks set to appeal to Manchester’s bohemian and creative population.
These two Residential developments make up just a fraction of the number of units being delivered in Manchester, which is set to reach over 6,000 in total this year. These figures are significantly ahead of Birmingham and Leeds, with 4,077 and 1,566 units currently under construction, making Manchester a serious hot spot for new property jobs in 2018.
Property recruiters are expecting 2018 to be their busiest year so far, with the demand for experienced property professionals currently so high across the Manchester and north-west region. This is great news for talented candidates seeking new property jobs in Manchester.
