Description

Management Accountant – Property

South Manchester/Hybrid role | Circa £50,000 + Bonus

Our award-winning, market-leading property client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Management Accountant to join its growing team in South Manchester.

This is much more than a traditional month-end accounting role. You’ll be joining an ambitious, fast-growing property business where Finance plays a key part in shaping commercial decisions and supporting future growth.

Working closely with the Finance Director, you’ll take ownership of the end-to-end management accounting process, producing high-quality financial information, identifying opportunities for improvement and providing the insight the wider business needs to make informed decisions.

If you enjoy getting into the detail but also want to understand the bigger commercial picture, this could be a fantastic next move.

The Role

As Management Accountant, you'll become a key member of the finance team with genuine responsibility and visibility across the business.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing accurate and timely monthly management accounts, accompanied by meaningful analysis and commentary.
  • Maintaining complete and accurate financial records within Sage.
  • Taking ownership of balance sheet reconciliations and consolidation, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Working alongside the Finance Director on annual budgets, forecasts and ongoing reforecasting, helping the business understand future performance.
  • Providing financial information and reporting to the wider Group finance function.
  • Supporting income reconciliation and maintaining robust controls to ensure recognised income is received.
  • Taking responsibility for key compliance activities, including the preparation and submission of VAT returns to HMRC.
  • Ensuring continued compliance with accounting standards, legal requirements and internal financial policies.
  • Playing an active role in the annual audit, working with both internal teams and external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient process.
  • Looking for smarter ways of working — improving financial processes, controls, Excel models and the utilisation of Sage.
  • Supporting ad-hoc commercial and finance projects as the Group continues to grow and evolve.
  • Managing and mentoring a junior member of the finance team, helping them develop while maintaining high standards across the department.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with a proactive, commercial mindset.

You'll ideally be someone who enjoys taking ownership, spotting opportunities to improve processes and becoming a trusted finance partner to the wider business.

You'll be:

  • Fully qualified – CIMA, ACCA or ICAEW
  • A qualified accountant with a minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience
  • Experienced in producing management accounts, reconciliations and financial reporting
  • Confident with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
  • Highly proficient in Excel, with experience using Sage or a similar accounting system
  • Organised, hands-on and comfortable managing competing priorities
  • Naturally analytical with strong problem-solving skills
  • A confident communicator who can work effectively across different areas of the business
  • Comfortable mentoring and developing junior team members
  • Property-sector experience would be advantageous, although it's not essential

Salary & Benefits

Alongside a competitive salary of circa £50,000 plus bonus, and hybrid working, you'll join a business that genuinely values its people.

Benefits include:

  • Holiday allowance increasing to 27 days with service
  • Your birthday off
  • Hybrid role, 3 office days plus 2 from home
  • 4pm finish every Friday
  • Paid time off for medical screenings
  • Enhanced company sick pay with service
  • Reduced Christmas operating hours
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Enhanced maternity, adoption and paternity pay
  • Employee recognition programmes
  • Monthly team lunches and company training sessions
  • Why Join?

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant who wants more ownership, more exposure and the opportunity to make a genuine impact.

You'll work closely with senior finance leadership, have the freedom to improve how things are done and join an ambitious property business at an exciting stage of its growth.

If you're looking for a Management Accountant role where you can take ownership, influence decisions and develop alongside a growing business, we'd love to hear from you.
